Choosing the right pricing model can help you maximize the funds you raise. Here’s a clear breakdown of each model we offer and how they work – so you can get the most from your campaign. #
💡 Note for CoCoPay Professional Users: These models do not apply. For custom pricing options, don’t hesitate to contact us at support@connectionpoint.com.
✅ Keep the Most #
This pricing model is designed to help you keep as much of your donations as possible.
How it Works:
- We encourage your contributors to cover the banking or credit card fees and leave an optional tip to support ConnectionPoint.
- Most donors do both. But if they choose not to, you pay the standard payment processing fees—nothing goes to ConnectionPoint.
- ConnectionPoint (FundRazr) never touches your donation funds—they go directly to your Stripe or PayPal account.
- Donors can easily opt out of tipping during checkout if they prefer.
It’s a simple, low-cost way to run your campaign and keep more of what you raise.
💸 How ‘Keep the Most’ works – Simple Example #
At checkout, supporters are asked if they’d like to contribute to covering the payment processing fee (from Stripe or PayPal) and leave an optional tip to support the platform.
Example:
Let’s say a supporter donates $50 to your campaign and chooses to:
✅ Add a $6 tip to support the platform
✅ Cover the payment processing fee
Here’s what happens:
- Stripe takes about $1.75 (2.9% + 30¢) from the $50 donation
- You receive $50 in your account (the supporter covered the fee!)
- ConnectionPoint receives the $6 tip
- No platform fee is taken from your donation!
🔁 If the supporter doesn’t cover the fee or leave a tip:
- Stripe still takes about $1.75
- You receive $48.25
- ConnectionPoint receives nothing
✅ Either way, you keep the most from each donation — just as the name promises!
Note: #
- For recurring donations, we switch to the Fee Recovery model (below). We don’t ask for a tip every month—just once.
💳 Fee Recovery #
Your supporters can cover all the fees — platform and processing!
We give your supporters the option to pay the 5% platform fee and the payment processing fees.
If they say yes (and most do), you keep 100% of their intended donation. If they say no, you pay both fees.
💸 Typical cost to you: 2–3%
(again, based on ~85% saying “yes”)
🎯 How “Fee Recovery’ Works – Simple Example #
Let’s say a supporter wants to donate $50 to your campaign.
During checkout, they are given the option to cover the fees — both the platform fee (5%) and the credit card/payment processing fee (around 2.9% + 30¢). That comes to about $4.25 in total fees.
If they say yes to covering the fees:
- They pay $54.25 in total.
- You get the full $50 in your account.
- Stripe takes about $1.75
- ConnectionPoint receives $2.50
If they say no and want to give $50:
- They pay $50
- Stripe still takes $1.75
- ConnectionPoint still gets $2.50
- You receive $45.75
The good news? Most supporters say yes to covering the fees — so more of their gift goes straight to you. Across all ConnectionPoint platforms, we see an average of 90% of supporters covering fees. You can see your ‘effective fee rate’ in your campaign’s Analytics tab, and if this number is lower than your payment processing rate, you are doing better than you would be on our Optional Tip model!
🔁 A Note on Recurring Donations #
If a supporter sets up a monthly donation, we don’t ask them to tip each time — that would get annoying! So, for recurring donations, we automatically switch to Fee Recovery, where they’ll be asked once if they want to cover the fees.
💡 Optional Tips #
Great for personal or community-focused campaigns.
You cover the payment processing fees, and we ask your supporters to contribute a small optional tip to help fund the platform.
There are no platform fees taken from your campaign.
💸 Typical cost to you: 3–4%
(depends on your Stripe or PayPal rates)
💡 How ‘Optional Tips’ work – Simple Example #
Let’s say a supporter donates $50 and adds a $6 tip for the platform.
Here’s what happens:
- Stripe takes about $1.75 in payment processing fees.
- You receive $48.25 in your account.
- ConnectionPoint receives the $6 tip.
- No platform fee is taken from your donation!
🙅 If the supporter doesn’t leave a tip:
- You still receive $48.25.
- Stripe gets $1.75.
- ConnectionPoint gets nothing — and that’s okay!
✅ Supporters help cover platform costs with a voluntary tip, but you always keep as much of your donation as possible.
💵 Flat Rate #
With this option, you cover the standard fees (including a 5% platform fee), and your supporters make their donation—no extra asks or tips needed.
Simple, straightforward — no extras asked from your supporters.
You cover the payment processing fees plus a 5% platform fee. That’s it. We won’t ask your donors for anything extra.
💸 Typical cost to you: 8–9%
(depends on your payment provider)
