Introducing… Add-On and Single-Shipping for multiple reward orders!
These are your two options for shipping out orders with multiple reward items. We’ll go through set up and the best use cases for each option
Part 1: Single-shipping cost for multiple units #
If you have an item with shipping available for a set price (for example, $5), and someone orders more than one of that same item, you can choose only to charge for shipping ONE of the items (in this case, $5).
You’ll check the box for ‘Apply single shipping cost for multiple units’ in your Reward-creation menu shipping tab to ensure you only charge for shipping once:
Why should I choose this option?
If your item is small – like a sticker or a thin comic book – then shipping more than one of the same item is not likely to set your costs off by much (if at all). So you may want to consider a single shipping cost. However, combining might not be cost-conscious if you have larger and heavier items, and you’d want to uncheck this box and consider your next option: Add-on shipping.
Part 2: Add-on shipping #
In response to our creators’ requests for easier shipping calculation, we’ve created an ‘Add-on’ shipping option for multiple orders. We’re as excited about this as you are!
Under the shipping tab in your Rewards-creation menu, you’ll find the option to ‘Enable add-on shipping costs.’
If enabled, add-on shipping costs will be applied when more than one reward (multiples of one reward or a mixture of different rewards) is purchased in a single transaction. The regular shipping cost for the reward with the highest shipping cost + the add-on shipping cost for each additional reward added to the same order.
To set this up:
- Select ‘Enable add-on shipping costs’ in the ‘Shipping & fulfillment’ tab of any shippable reward.
- Enter the desired add-on shipping cost in the ‘Add-on cost’ column of the shipping table below the setting.
- Select ‘Add.’
- Select ‘Apply changes’ or ‘Add reward’
- Save! Always be saving!
Why should I choose this option?
If you expect supporters to choose more than one reward option, and/or if your reward items are big enough to warrant extra shipping for multiples of one item, this is the way to go!
