Contribution tracking means that, even with one campaign goal, our platforms can track if a supporter landed on the campaign through a specific team member’s link. That team member then gets credit for inspiring that contributor with their sharing efforts!
How does this work? #
Whether in a standard campaign or a multi-tiered one with sub-campaigns, each team can choose to show which member inspired what contributions. They appear in a special ‘Team’ section of the story tabs:
ConnectionPoint platforms accomplish this by attaching a referral code to each individual user. When you share a campaign via the links in the share bar or by copying and pasting the link, this code attaches to the URL. It’s part of the URL, beginning with ?ref= and ending with a mix of numbers and letters. When someone views the campaign from those links and then chooses to contribute, that contribution is attributed to the user associated with that referral code.
Supporters can see they are attributing their contribution to a specific team member in the checkout menu:
Mistakes do happen! Sometimes a supporter attributes their contribution to the wrong person. And that’s okay – you can fix it!
Enabling attributions (‘Results tracking’) #
STEP 1 – Click ‘Team’ and then ‘Settings’ in the campaign’s navigation menu.
STEP 2 – Under ‘Results tracking,’ toggle to ‘On.’ The change saves automatically.
How do you want team members displayed? #
Choose whether your team members are listed alphabetically, by who raised the most funds, or options to switch between the two in the option underneath ‘Results tracking.’ You can always change your mind later!
