If you do not reach the campaign goal, what happens next depends on your campaign type.
For All-or-nothing campaigns –
Contributions are a ‘pledge’ – the promise of a transaction. The campaign holds transactions until you either hit the deadline or the goal.
If you do NOT reach the campaign goal by the deadline, you have nothing to do. Credit cards or PayPal accounts will not be charged.
You can charge your supporters ONLY if you reach your campaign goal by the deadline (click here for more info).
For Keep-it-all campaigns –
Contributions are immediate transactions, with the funds going directly toward your Stripe and/or PayPal account, whether or not you hit the goal. So you receive funds anyway, and supporters expect you to apply those funds to the promised project. If you do hit the goal, the campaign doesn’t end automatically – you’ll have to manually finish it yourself.
It’s important to note that no matter your campaign type, you can always try again. Our advice is to use the resources available and take the time to plan your approach in depth, perhaps reduce your goal, and go for the smaller win.
