About Me
I'm Sarah McMillan, a survivor of PTSD and chronic complex health conditions, and the proud guardian of my emotional support cat, Coco. She has been my lifeline, my unwavering support, and my everything. Through Coco, I discovered a love deeper than I had ever known—one that taught me self-care, resilience, and the power of unconditional companionship.
My bond with animals has always been special. At 19, I knew I wanted to be a foster parent, but due to my disabilities and PTSD, traditional fostering wasn’t an option. My counselor suggested fostering kittens, and that’s when I found my true calling. For years, I worked with the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Society, caring for the most vulnerable little souls and, in turn, learning so much about myself.
Animals depend on us, and I believe that if we aren’t there for them in their time of need, who will be? That question has driven me to help animals in my community however I can. Today, I’m grateful to have found my “forever foster” in Coco, but our journey isn’t over. We’re relying on the kindness and support of our community to help us heal and move forward together.
Every act of compassion makes a difference—thank you for being part of our story.
