Hello all!
I am so so excited to be taking part in the Maz Move-A-Thon again this year!
This February – Heart Month - I am raising funds to support cardiovascular research and care at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (the Maz).  Funds raised will go toward research, minimally invasive surgeries, and access to the best diagnostic tools and technology available in order to support preventative and treatment-based cardiac care. 
The Maz is a world leader in complex cardiac care and surgery.  We focus on preventative heart health, minimally invasive procedures (such as stents or pacemaker insertion), advanced heart failure care, congenital heart abnormalities, open heart surgery, heart and lung transplant, and mechanical circulatory support.  We also are home to western Canada’s Ventricular Assist Device program for both children and adults, essentially giving a new mechanical heart to those whose heart is no longer effective. 
Cardiovascular disease is on the rise in Canada, and the Maz is determined to treat those affected while working to develop ways to stop it in its tracks.
