Kata is a Hungarian Writer/Director based in London, currently completing her MA Filmmaking at the London Film School. As a young director, she merges realism with subtle magical realism, bringing folklore into contemporary worlds.

Her debut short Nina premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Friss Hús Festival in 2023, establishing her voice in emotionally precise, female-driven storytelling. Her recent work includes the documentary feature Acquitted (Co-Cinematographer), the documentary Motherhood (Director/Editor), and the fiction short Integration (DOP).

Kata has worked across Budapest, Munich, and London, collaborating with Proton Cinema, RTL Munich, and HBO. In 2022, she joined NEON’s feature The Actor as Director’s Assistant to Oscar-nominated filmmaker Duke Johnson, returning in 2025 to assist him on his upcoming feature Lincoln in the Bardo — a mentorship that continues to shape her approach to storytelling.

As a director, Kata is drawn to stories where the mundane quietly slips into the mythical. She brings an open-minded, character-centered, visually driven approach to every project.
