Nothing to show yet.Hello friends. I'll start with an apology for not updating every Saturday as promised. Please read my daughter-in-law's most recent blog post at breastcancerduringpregnancy@blogspot.com as she says it so beautifully. She continues to inspire others by sharing this journey they're on. She writes beautifully and with such open and honest emotions. The ending of the blog...well, I'm one proud mother and mother-in-law! The countdown is on - they'll soon be a precious grandson in my arms! He's already in our hearts, and we are so excited to meet him in three weeks! Our family thanks you again for your continued prayers, love and support! We are truly blessed to have you on our team!
Several people told me recently they didn't realize this was my son and daughter-in-law. It is, and I'm so blessed to have them in my life! They've dealt courageously with more during the last 5 months than I've had to deal with in all my years. Dee has one more chemo treatment before she and Jeremy welcome their son into their arms, hearts and lives on or around November 20. After Dee becomes a mommy, she'll have 12 weekly chemo treatments, so the journey continues. With Jeremy and their son by her side and love coming to them from family and friends, I know they'll overcome the challenges ahead! Our family sends many thanks for all the love, prayers, donations and support. Our hearts have been deeply touched by your kindness! Please continue to support us however you can, share our joy of a bouncing baby boy and celebrate our success story when Jeremy and Dee cross the hurdles and settle into the joys of parenthood. If you choose to make a donation and have trouble using a credit card instead of PayPal, please let me know and we can fix it. For more of our story viisit Dee's blog as she has updated it recently. No real updates for this week. Jeremy, Dee and their baby boy continue to move forward. A sincere thank you for continuing to support them. You are appreciated.
Chemo #2 has been completed. The biggest side effects thus far have been fatigue and hair loss. Jeremy and Dee continue in their quest to remain strong, brave and determined. An article I read recently stated that cancer affects not only the patient but the spouse and other family members as well. We're finding this to be true. It's so hard when you want to take away the pain, the worry, the stress from a loved one but you simply can't. Treatment #3 will be in 2 weeks with #4 to follow 3 weeks later. After that the doctors will evaluate Dee and the baby to determine the best time for delivery. It's tentatively mid November, whereas the original due date was late December. After the birth Dee will continue chemo treatments into the new year. As always, your support and prayers are appreciated so much. We feel the love!
Compass by Lady Antebellum: "Yeah it's been a bumpy road, Roller coasters high and low..." Sometimes the road gets bumpy and the roller coaster dips low for those who love someone battling cancer. The past couple of weeks have been like that for us. Dee and Jeremy continue to strive for bravery and strength as they fight this beast together, but it takes a toll and they're so very tired. However, they found out today that even after Dee's first chemo treatment, their precious baby boy continues to grow and has a strong heartbeat. For that we are so thankful. Some of the side effects of chemo have found Dee, but she forges on. Her second treatment is next week. Thank you all for your continued support through prayers, cards, messages and donations. It's sometimes a bumpy road and it's going to be a long journey. After the baby is born, Dee's chemo treatments increase to weekly and will continue into February with radiation to follow. Jeremy, Dee and their precious baby boy are surrounded by love and they're so very grateful for the outpouring of kindness and generosity. I am truly humbled and I know the rest of the family is too. Love, happiness and healthy lives are wished for each of you supporting us.
Well, I'm a couple days late with my Saturday morning update...so sorry. Everyone continues to take things one day at a time. Dee had her first chemo treatment on Tuesday and has done well. We realize this may not always be the case, but we're thankful for each day she feels well. Jeremy felt the baby kick for the first time and it was the morning of the chemo treatment - before they left home. We consider it baby boy's way of telling us that he's being strong and brave, too. Brain is continuing his path to recovery, Sherri's 3rd chemo treatment will be next week, with Dee's 2nd one the following week. We enjoyed our time together at Dee and Sherri's parents' house for a birthday dinner for Jeremy. Things are busy in the lives of this family! On behalf of the entire family, many thanks to all of you who have supported and who continue to support us in so many ways! Your prayers, your kindness, your generosity, your humor when we need it...lifts us up and helps us stay strong and positive. (Well, mostly...I'm told I was out of sorts on Saturday, but a girl's entitled to a day here and there, right?)
