Carley Romas has spent most of her career in inner-city schools on the east side of Vancouver, where there were resources for impoverished children. But now she's on the south slope and it's been an unpleasant surprise.

When kids come to school hungry, they can’t concentrate on their lessons. Breakfast programs funded by your donations to Adopt a School help hundreds of children start the day with a nutritious meal.

An estimated one in five students at Maple Ridge Secondary comes from a poor family. They come hungry and without proper clothing. Help expand the school's breakfast program so there's breakfast every day instead of only three days a week.

Teen homelessness is epidemic and often invisible. For these youth, school is their only safe place. But often they can't get there because it's too far to walk and, without any parental or other supports, they have no money for the bus. Read more.

Food is the enticement, but the real reward for struggling students at Britannia Secondary is that the Homework Club and the Youth Engagement Project gives them the help and incentive they need to succeed.
