Loss of the ability to read, drive, enjoy some hobbies and work, and not being able to tell day from night are issues that blind and visually impaired individuals have to deal with daily. I have spent over 30 years performing eye surgery trying to reduce the burden of visual impairment. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts some people succumb to, or inherit their eye problems.

Since joining the Board of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind I’m amazed by how far technology has come to significantly improve the ability to complete normal activities of daily living. An app on a phone can make a huge difference in the lives of those who have sight loss.

In September I will be going “Over the Edge” in support of the CNIB. A group of 100 participants will be rappelling down 13 stories at the Westin Hotel to raise funds for the CNIB and its important programs.

Your financial support will go a long way towards helping those in need.

A sincere thanks you for your generosity.
