Contributing to your own campaign is not as simple as it sounds…<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes campaign owners want to make the first contribution to get the goal meter off 0. This is a good instinct! Nobody wants to be the first supporter, so removing that barrier is a huge help. Unfortunately, it isn\u2019t that simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As PayPal puts it: the payer cannot also be the recipient of the transaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essentially, you cannot contribute with your PayPal or Stripe account into that same account, nor can you contribute with any credit or debit card that you\u2019ve previously used with either provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get the ball rolling on contributions, we recommend asking a close friend or family member to make the first contribution using their credit card or PayPal account instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Some payment providers recognize self-payments as suspicious or fraudulent activity. If there are troubles with your account after attempting to donate to yourself, we recommend you reach out to the payment provider\u2019s customer support. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
