Either Stripe or PayPal processes all contributions to campaigns. So you do not need a PayPal account to use a ConnectionPoint platform if you have Stripe; however, we do recommend both.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can choose either payment processor if you live or operate within Stripe and\/or PayPal’s supported regions. If it\u2019s an option, we do recommend both because it gives your supporters a choice – and people like options!<\/strong> However, Stripe is available in fewer areas, making PayPal the only option for many users. Read on to learn more about using PayPal as a payment provider on our platforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accepting contributions with PayPal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To accept contributions through PayPal on your campaign, you should meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Your PayPal account is Verified<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Your PayPal email address is Confirmed.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Your PayPal account must be capable of accepting one of our Supported Currencies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. If you want to accept credit cards but you only have a Personal PayPal account, you\u2019ll need to upgrade your account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. Your PayPal account is Verified.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    <\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Unverified PayPal accounts have limits on what kind of services they are able to use. Online crowdfunding may not be supported in your region through online checkouts without a Verified status. Being Verified will also increase the chances for your donors to successfully complete a donation to your cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Note: <\/strong>Your region may support Person-to-Person payments through PayPal, but this does not mean the region is able to support online PayPal checkouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Your PayPal email address is Confirmed.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    If your email address hasn\u2019t been confirmed on your PayPal account, then nobody<\/strong> will be able to contribute to your campaign \u2013 PayPal\u2019s system will show them an error message instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Important! \u201cConfirming\u201d your email address is different than \u201cVerifying\u201d your PayPal account.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Your PayPal account must be capable of accepting one of our Supported Currencies.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    If your account is not set up with a supported currency, then nobody<\/strong> will be able to contribute to your campaign \u2013 PayPal\u2019s system will show them an error message instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Most users will instinctively choose their local currency when they set up their campaign. (For example, US PayPal accounts automatically accept USD, so most US users would choose USD as their accepted currency on their campaign).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    However, if you want to accept contributions in a currency that you don\u2019t normally accept (for example, a British user may want to accept contributions in EUR instead of GBP), you\u2019ll need to make sure you have an open balance in that currency inside your PayPal account and also make sure that currency is on this list<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
